On 6th October 2018, City Parents’ School participated in the 6th Annual Rotarian Swimming Gala. It was held at Kampala Parents School and attracted a variety of schools both primary and secondary.
Ssemango Paul Blessing won gold medal in the boys category under 12.
Namubiru Vanessa P.7 was exceptional as she participated in over 10 heats including those above her age category and won all of them.
When asked about what motivated her this is what she had to say;
“That day I came to school particularly to attend that gala. I was nervous and at the same time happy that I was going to represent my school but sad that I missed studying. I was motivated by my friends Namubiru Imacculate and Mirembe Stecia. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have excelled like this. I was sick as well on that day and felt like I wouldn’t really make it.
I swam in over 10 heats and won all of them in 1st place. At the end of the day I was like this is worth it. I got a gold medal and we brought a trophy for the school. The headmaster, Mr. Isagala Martin really appreciated me and gave me 20,000/=. I know next year we shall win that trophy for the 3rd year permanently.”
